2011 Nanticoke Powwow - Nanticoke Country
Saturday, September 10, 2011

The 34th Annual Nanticoke Indian Powwow kicked off on Saturday, September 10, 2011. The weekend commenced with a traditional blessing of the dance circle and Grand Entry at Noon. Under the direction of Keith Colston, Emcee, and head dancers Keith Anderson and Adrienne Harmon, dancers from the Nanticoke Indian Tribe as well as many from surrounding areas participated in two dance sessions throughout the day. Boe Harris and Ragghi Calentine provided original storytelling and flute selections during the break between the two dance sessions. The second day of our event took place on Sunday, September 11, 2011. The morning began with our annual Sunday Morning Worship Service, hosted by Indian Mission United Methodist Church. Pastor Karen Mumford led the service, which was focused around the remembrance of the 10th anniversary of 9/11. The day continued with Grand Entry at 1 followed by the only dance session of the day. The event concluded with the sacred retiring of the flags ceremony. The Nanticoke Indian Association, Inc. wishes to thank Leolga T. Wright, Powwow Chair and her committee for their dedication and hard work that led to the success of this year’s event. We hope to see everyone at our 35th Annual Powwow on September 8 – 9, 2012.
