Our Museum displays many artifacts that have been passed down from our Elders who have since perished and well as donations that have been made over the years. Our displays include but are not limited to – thousands of arrowheads, pottery, axe hammers and other objects, all of which are homemade. Visitors are educated and receive insight of the work that goes into creating Native arts and leave with a new understanding of our culture.

Our building features two rooms. The first of which displays the tools spoken of previously, as well as an example of our village to show how our elders lived in the old days. It also features lots of artwork from our own tribal members as well as others. The second room has artifacts that date back to 8000 B.C. as well as a stage that displays traditional clothing as well as the animals of which the clothes were made from. Also on exhibit is a wooden canoe that the men and boys of the tribe travelled in to collect fish, crabs and other animals.

Before you leave, be sure to visit our Gift Shop that has authentic Nanticoke Crafts, as well as previous Powwow memorabilia including our Annual Powwow Book for sale. Our own Nanticoke people make all of the jewelry, Dream Catchers, earrings and other craft items that are for sale. We want you to be able to have the opportunity to take our heritage home with you.

The Nanticoke Indian Museum also offers special tours for schools and community groups. If you would like to schedule an appointment, please contact us by phone or email.
